
Cancellation: 2020 Purina Award Presentation
In conjunction with the cancellation of the AFTCA Annual Board Meeting in Montgomery, AL, the presentation ceremonies for the 2019-2020 Purina Outstanding Bird Dog Award have also been cancelled. We do congratulate this year’s winners, who have worked extremely hard to reach the pinnacle of the sport, and look forward to recognizing them all at next year’s ceremony.

Cancellation: 2020 AFTCA Annual Board Meeting
The AFTCA has made a difficult but important decision for the protection of everyone involved that the annual AFTCA Meeting of the Board of Trustees will be cancelled in Montgomery, AL slated for the weekend of June 27th due to Covid 19.

American Field & FDSB: An Update (April 25)
Chicago, Ill. — During his briefing on the coronavirus on Thursday, April 23, Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker announced that the “stay at home” order mandated to April 30 was being extended to May 30, another five weeks.

The Amateur Field Trial Clubs of America (AFTCA) is an organization made up of individuals and clubs that volunteer, organize, compete, participate, and promote not only in our sport, but the complex relationships with owning and caring for animals and protecting, through conservation efforts, a healthy upland game population.

American Field & FDSB: An Update (April 16)
Chicago, Ill. — It is more than three weeks since the governor of Illinois and the mayor of the city of Chicago issued “stay at home” mandates in the face of the coronavirus outbreak. These are tentatively scheduled to expire on April 30. If such did occur, the American Field would be up and running “full speed” by Monday, May 4.

2019-2020 National Amateur Quail & Derby Championship Report
The National Amateur Quail Championship returned to the historic Dixie Plantation after an absence of two years to allow maintenance on the field trial courses. This trial is considered by many to be the creme de la creme of amateur trials. There was a collective sigh of relief by the field trial community when permission was granted for this trial to return to Dixie. Fifty-six were drawn to compete—55 pointers, seven being females, and one setter.

2019-2020 National Amateur Shooting Dog Derby & Shooting Dog Championship Report
The tradition of the National Amateur Shooting Championship once again made its way to Camp Robinson Field Trial area. These two traditions kind of belong with each other, the finest amateur dogs in the country taking on the challenge of the famed grounds were the champions have run for more for more than sixty years. The excitement started with the National Amateur Shooting dog Derby Championship. The jewel for the young at heart got going in fine fashion.

Spring Update – Covid 19 Response
To all Club and Individual Members,
Most of all, we all want to extend both sympathies and our very best wishes to all effected by this pandemic, it has gotten big and will most certainly get bigger in the short term. Each and every person’s health and well being is our priority.
These are difficult and unusual times for all of us. With a geographically spread out membership the situation regarding Covid 19 is very fluid and very different for some of us. We trust that each area will manage their situations as they see best.
