Chicago, Ill. — It is more than three weeks since the governor of Illinois and the mayor of the city of Chicago issued “stay at home” mandates in the face of the coronavirus outbreak. These are tentatively scheduled to expire on April 30. If such did occur, the American Field would be up and running “full speed” by Monday, May 4.
To all Club and Individual Members,
Most of all, we all want to extend both sympathies and our very best wishes to all effected by this pandemic, it has gotten big and will most certainly get bigger in the short term. Each and every person’s health and well being is our priority.
These are difficult and unusual times for all of us. With a geographically spread out membership the situation regarding Covid 19 is very fluid and very different for some of us. We trust that each area will manage their situations as they see best.

What’s been accomplished in 2019:
• 20th Century Fund awarded $18,000 for upland bird habitat improvement.
• Roll out of the Top Amateur Handler Award Program
• AFTCA Standards for Field Trial Procedure, Judicial Practice, Handler and Bird Dog Performance was updated and republished.
• Initiation the exciting and important Land Contribution Program
The Board of Trustees is excited to bring a new program to member clubs of the AFTCA. This is a potential tax benefit to landowners that allows clubs to host trials on their land and use their facilities. During the 2019 annual meeting, the AFTCA Board of Trustees approved a new program to provide private landowners an In-kind Tax-deductible Contribution for the value of the preparation and use of their land and facilities for the purpose of conducting a field trial by a current AFTCA member club.
With the new field trial season underway, NOW is a good time for individual members and those managing AFTCA member clubs to renew their memberships if you have not yet done so. Please login to your account and renew today…and good luck to all handlers and their dogs this fall!
