National Amateur Shotting Dog Derby Championship In 1993 the first derby competition for amateur dogs was established which was for all age potential contenders. The following year it seems only proper to establish a like test for derbies with shooting dog potential. This like its counterpart was to see the inaugural running in Alabama, this time at Hurtsboro. Thirty six came to compete which is a representative number for this stake. It has been a well traveled stake with 2005 definitely being a high note as 72 entries showed up when the stake ran at the lovely Pinebloom Plantation in Albany, Georgia. This is a record that will not easily be broken!
